Lazy Parenting Hack - NO FOOD

ANYWHERE other than in the kitchen! Trust me, you will thank me for this one!

Start this rule RIGHT AWAY, while they are little. No snacks in front of the tv, no snacks in the playroom, no snacks in their bedroom (ESPECIALLY their bedroom!). If they are hungry, they have to sit at the table or in their high chair.

There is enough mess around the house as is with their clothes, their LEGO, their stuffies, their books their socks (still battling with my son for his random socks I find all over the house ) but finding a stinky sock is WAY better than finding a moldy piece of food or fruit fly infested dish in some random part of the house.

Now in total transparency, this rule came about because of my LAZINESS and the fact that I hated cleaning a room and then seeing crumbs shortly afterwards (or let’s be even more honest, paying someone to clean my house and then finding crumbs all over the freshly vacuumed carpet). In addition, I HATE bugs...like seriously, HATE THEM. I have lasting memories from my 70’s childhood home (with dark paneling on the walls and shag carpet) of spiders crawling across the floor and hiding in corners. It made a lasting impression on me and is the reason why I live in a white-walled home now.

Remember, lazy parenting is a movement to make things easier for you! But by holding tight to this rule, you are also making it easier for them. They won’t get yelled at later in life for leaving their dishes in random rooms or for half-eaten snacks and crumbs on the carpet. You’ll feel more comfortable with just closing the door to their disaster of a room knowing there isn’t any food in there. It will make your house a nicer, cleaner and more peaceful place. Trust me xoxo 😉
